I'm just posting this really because my last journal was in 2014 and I want people to know I'm still alive and have returned to dA after a ~2 year (!) hiatus due to a number of reasons, including health woes, lack of inspiration, and a pervasive attitude of jaded cynicism.  After two years I have recovered both health and inspiration, although I am still jaded and cynical—but now I'm enthusiastic about it! XD

So that was a thing.  And now I'm back, mostly doing some neat stuff with dazzl3d.  I don't know if I'll post much art of my own.  I might, but no promises.  In real life, I am working, volunteering, and studying at library school.  Life's pretty good, all things considered. *clapping emoji*

As you know if you read the Dazzl3d delay notice, I have been having some health issues since around Late October last year.  Fortunately, I am doing somewhat better, though still having issues.  The docs have narrowed it down to one or more neurological conditions of some sort, but the specifics are still uncertain.  The cardiologist ruled out any heart issues as being the cause of my fainting and dizzy spells.  I have more doctor appointments in the coming weeks, so hopefully more elucidation will be forthcoming.

You know I'm constantly hitting you guys up for animal-rescue related favors, and this time I have one that is particularly near and dear to my heart.

One of my best friends, Amanda, has a dog named Daisy who is incredibly important to her.  I'm sure all of us who have beloved companion animals know how this is--they are just like furred family members.  I know how I feel about my cranky old basset lady, and I absolutely dread the day anything happens to her, and I would not wish that kind of distress on any animal lover, especially not as wonderful a person as Amanda.

I learned today that Daisy has an eye tumor.  It is probably benign, and once removed, would not recur.  However, Amanda is a student and aspiring teacher, and cannot afford the medical care Daisy needs to recover from this eye tumor.  To that end, she has set up a chip-in to help raise funds to cover the costs.

If you are in any position to donate, regardless of how much, please consider it.  It would mean a lot to me, and certainly for Amanda and Daisy.

Specifically, my premium membership, which I am letting expire.  It currently says I have a -0 day premium membership, shows adverts on some pages, pops up a box telling me my premium is running out, do I want to renew? on others, and displaying others as if I have a premium membership.

It's still letting me use skins though (not that I ever do, mind).  Maybe when I am a bit more flush and I will use the premium features more than I have of late, I will renew.  Til then, I have no problem with adverts.

I accidentally locked myself out of my web site while working on the code, and because I had it in maintenance mode and accidentally deleted a crucial piece of code, I couldn't get back on through Wordpress.  Fortunately, I had a backup, and was able to upload it from my cPanel.  Crisis averted.

Moral of the story:  Always back your stuff up before you go mucking about with the code.
